Sledgehammer was released on the 24th April 1986 (according to UK Chart info) reaching number 4 in the UK charts and spending 16 weeks in the charts.
Sledgehammer was the first single from the eagerly anticipated album SO, Sledgehammer also saw Peter collaborating with Aardman Animations to create a one of a kind music video that became an award winning video in its own right. The music video was played heavily on the then up and coming music Tv channel MTV.
Sledgehammer did achieve a Silver award for single sales (meaning over 250,000 were sold according to the BPI records) on the 1st June 1986.
