Paul Russell part time journalist had written pieces for the monthly magazine Record Collector he finally wrote a book about Genesis, He focused on the Peter Gabriel era. The author was given access to the earliest Official Genesis live recordings at the Genesis studios in Surrey as part of his research for this book. The book mainly features reviews of these recordings and others sourced from collectors of such material usually audience recordings. The book also contains an interview with Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and that elusive member Anthony Phillips conducted at some point at The Genesis studios in surrey.
There is a limited amount of photographs but, the interview at the back is a good place to learn about very early Genesis, but you may find the gig reviews and lack of access to such recordings a bit annoying after the initial read!
