Phil Collins – Hits

This Hits album was released on the 5th October 1998, Usually when an artist releases a Hits compilation they have nothing further to contribute. Thankfully Phil Collins went on to release A Hot Night In Paris, Tarzan, Testify, Brother Bear, Love Songs and then embark on a Genesis reunion tour, and then put out a Motown covers albums which was very large in terms of effort and songs chosen!

Notes:

This album according to the UK chart info was released on the 17th October 1998 by Virgin Records (CDV 2870) it reached Number 1 and it stayed in the album charts for 56 weeks.

There was no tour to promote the album, but there was a TV programme on the UK and American TV called Live By Request were people could ring in and give a good reason why they chose that song for Phil and his band (mostly made up from the 1997 Dance Into The Light tour band) to perform.. in one instance it was a woman ringing about a miscarriage who asked for Two Hearts! etc
